I’m a baker. I love to bake treats for family and friends and bake with my nieces. I think it’s always good to mix fun with learning measurements and teaching them how solids work together.
Every year I make Christmas ornaments and the nieces come over and it is a PARTY! It’s my favorite thing to do, to watch them figure out how to make something pretty, or experiment with the paint colors and mixing them. It’s always a big mess, but the fun we have is so worth it. In fact my niece once said to me, when I told her she was a “very talented artist”, she said “You taught me to be an artist Aunt Meem.” It turned my heart right over and I had to fight back the tears. She was 4 when she said that to me and I will never forget it.
We spend a lot of time together during the summer. I’m teaching two of my nieces to swim, and the little one, Caroline, is so eager to catch up to her big sisters I have to watch her all the time!
Aside from swimming, (I do laps when my nieces aren’t around!) I love to waterski and I love boats. I find something so peaceful about the water, so naturally soothing. One day I would like to live somewhere with a view of the ocean. I live an active and healthy lifestyle, and I would love to share all of this with a child. Children see everything as new and wondrous, and they are sponges for information and knowledge.
I also teach Creative Writing and a Business Writing course at a local college.
I have a room set aside for the baby, painted in a light, happy green because I believe in creating the intention and because I want you to know that I have a place for your baby in my home as well as in my heart.
I love to travel. I went to Ireland a few years ago and toured the country, trying to track down my family history. It was great fun, especially learning driving on the left side of the road!
I went to England in high school with a chorus group to sing for the Queen. I went to France on an exchange program in my senior year in high school, and still love the language and the architecture (and the food! ) one of my closest friends moved to Greece a few years back and I’ve been to visit her about four times over the years. I love to learn different languages, and I am pretty good at understanding French and Greek; speaking it is a challenge unless I am in the country!
