I have an incredibly supportive family, and they are excited that I am on this journey. My mother has been especially supportive of me, and she is one of my closest friends.
I have four nieces and one nephew, and I think the times I have experienced true joy is when I am with them. I am Godmother to two of them, an honor I take very seriously. I am their “Aunt Meem”, and I will never tire of hearing them call me that!
They all have such great little personalities already. I take my two older nieces, 4 and 8, (who live close by), 2-3 times a month to my house and we do crafts or play hide and seek, or go to a movie. I love watching them grow. I see how susceptible they are to what we as adults do and say, and try to model my behavior whenever I can so they mimic the right thing to say or do and the kinder way to talk.
The two year old is too young to come over and my other niece and nephew live in another state, so I don’t get to see them as often as I would like to, but we are close and talk to each other weekly.
I have a sister and a brother. I talk to my sister as time allows - she has an 11 year old and an 8 year old - and between all the hockey and soccer practices, we squeeze in time to talk on our ways home from work. My brother I see and speak to frequently. I have two aunts that live near by me that I am also close with. We speak weekly, and they are also very supportive of my plans. We lost my father quite suddenly in 2010,. but I know he is helping me on this journey. I pray that the right child finds me, and I him or her.
